Shane begins his 10th year as a coach in some capacity for the Braves. He has been the Head Freshman Coach, an Assistant Junior Varsity Coach, a Varsity Assistant and will be the Head Junior Varsity coach for 2011.

Coach Abrell is no stranger to Braves Baseball as he was an outfielder in our program from 1995-98. In 1998, Shane was named the Team Captain. One of the many highlights of Shane's baseball career was hitting the game winning home run in the top of the ninth inning against rival Terre Haute North during his senior season.

Coach Abrell is a 1998 graduate of South where he played football, basketball and baseball for the Braves. Upon graduation, he attended Indiana State University earning a degree in Computer Science . He also received his Master's of Education Degree wih emphasis in Sports and Kinesiology from Western Kentucky University in 2010.

Shane's family have been ardent supporters of the baseball program since 1989 when Shane's brother Chris, was a player in our program as well.

Shane is currently employed by the Vigo County School Corporation as a Teacher in the Business Eduaction Department at Terre Haute North.
