Terre Haute South Vigo (1986) and Purdue University (1991) graduate Kyle Kraemer, 44,
enters his 18th season as the
head coach of the Braves. The Braves
finished the 2011 season with a 25-8
record and their 5th MIC Title, 13th
Sectional Title, 6th Regional Title and
2nd Final Four appearance. The 2012
Varsity squad will return four starters.
Coach Kraemer is also extremely excited
about the work ethic and knowledge of
this year's coaching staff.
Kraemer played football and baseball at South. Upon graduating, he accepted a scholarship to attend Purdue
University where he began to get serious about learning the game of baseball. Kyle was named the Boilermaker Team Captain his senior year (1990) and lead the Boilers in home runs that year with 10.
After his playing career, Kraemer devoted his summer months to the development of youth baseball. He attended and taught at various instructional camps and coached at every level, including Pony League, high school, and collegiately.
Prior to being promoted as head coach at Terre Haute South, Kraemer taught and coached at West Lafayette Harrison High School for one year. In the summer of 1992, Kraemer left Harrison High School and accepted a technology education teaching and assistant baseball coaching position alongside his former high school coach, Ken Martin. Kraemer served as Martin's volunteer varsity assistant in 1993 and 1994, working primarily with the hitters. In 2007, Coach K joined the Braves football program under former Braves baseball player - Mark Raetz.
Coach Kraemer would like to mention
several people which have made his
life-long dream possible. First and
foremost, he would like to thank his
mother and step-father, Robert and Kelly
Dumas, for always supporting him in his
athletic endeavors. He would also like
to thank the following people for their
influence in his baseball playing and
coaching careers: Koby Kraemer, Barry Nicosin, Barry Miller, Dalt Monroe, Tom McCullough, Dave Alexander and Steve Green.
